At Crickets we believe in the value of tradition. Good eating has its roots in that very idea. Recipes are passed on from generation to generation, each bringing something new to the table. Our history is just as important as the dishes that we serve each and every day.
John and Sissy Eason founded Crickets Restaurant in 1989 and coined the name after hearing the sweet sound of crickets chirping in the Pine Mountain woods. Having moved here from New Orleans, they brought the authentic local cuisine along with them and paired it alongside All American classics. They established Crickets as a staple in this small Georgia town.
Don and Wanda Kauffmann bought Crickets in November of 2000, carefully training with the Eason’s in the New Orleans style to carry on their tradition. Although the building has seen many changes over the years our food mostly remains the same original recipes that our patrons have grown to love.
Today, Crickets Restaurant is committed to offering quality food in a relaxing and family friendly environment. Whether you are visiting us from across the country or down the street, our goal is to make you feel at home.
To our valued customers who may not be familiar with New Orleans cuisine, our foods are tastefully seasoned but are not spicy hot. We offer several additional spices so you have the opportunity to further season to your taste.
On our anniversary in Callaway Gardens and we ate at Cricket's Restaurant. We ate here 6 years ago and it was very good then and wanted to return. It was Friday evening and we were greeted by the friendly host and seated. We had the Ribeye steak, baked Potato and salad. Everything was excellent as our first visit. We will be back and recommend this restaurant to others. Great food, friendly service and reasonable prices.
Every time we have out-of-town visitors, we make it a point to take them to Callaway Gardens. There really isn't a whole lot of good dining options inside the resort. But a mile or two outside the property on Highway 18 is a quaint place called Cricket's. We've been coming here for ages and have not been disappointed. Make sure you start with the seafood gumbo and crawfish etoufee are both fantastic...I've eaten through the entire menu and everything is good. The steaks are great, as well as the chicken fingers. Salads are also very good. Whatever you order, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
We were not sure what to expect but like to eat at locally owned places when on vacation. We had grilled shrimp, tilapia and the wings appetizer. All were excellent. Really the best meal we had on this vacation. Would definitely go again. Service and prices were great too!!
We've been going to pine mountain annually for over 20 years. Memorial day water ski Tournament draws us. My favorite restaurant is crickets. It was sold a few years back but The new owners are great hosts. I only eat the Cajun they offer because it's so good. The New owners have added verity to the menu but I haven't tasted it.the Crawfish Etouffee is my favorite. Other Cajun items are also really good, all of which are served on their platter. They have wine and beer. A good crape desert. I actually like it better than most new Orleans places. Very casual. You can eat well for under $20 including tip but not drinks.
